Representing and Combining Transformations

This lesson plan comes from the Math Assessment Project. It is designed to help teachers figure out how well students can recognize and visualize transformations of 2D shapes and how well they can translate, reflect and rotate shapes, and combine these transformations.

This lesson relates to the following standard from the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adults:

Understand that a two-dimensional figure is congruent to another if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections, and translations; given two congruent figures, describe a sequence that exhibits the congruence between them
