This set of 20 videos offer brief interviews (4:00 to 10:00 min long) with professionals talking about the ways they use math at their jobs. There is a radiologist, a nurse, a woodworker, the assistant general manager of a baseball team, dentist, astrobiologist, chef, pharmacist, computer network engineer, athletic trainer, civil engineer, health educator, restaurant manager, physical trainer, production scheduler, zookeeper (hoofstock), police accident investigator, zoo keeper (birds) and a real estate appraiser.

You can watch each video based on the job, but you can also search by subject. So if you were teaching geometry, you would see that 6 of the videos are tagged with geometry. Ratios and proportions are the most tagged math subject, raised in 15 of the videos. Nine of the videos have professionals talking about how they use expressions and equations at work.

The videos come from PBS Learning Media, which is a service of New York’s Public Television Stations.

Please, let us know how you use them with your students in the comments below.
