Finding dynamic materials for teaching math in Spanish-HSE classes is a real challenge. Beyond a few workbooks, there is not much out there, and those workbooks are often out-of-date or not-aligned with the HSE exams. Spanish-HSE teachers often spend twice the time to prepare for classes, needing to translate materials. In this post, we are offering a few Spanish-language resources, and also putting out a call to our community. We hope the resources below are just the beginning of a growing collection so please let us know what’s missing from this list.

(1) Desmos has a growing collection of translations of its activities. You can find them here: Desmos Spanish Materials. There are a lot of activities there, so if you’re looking for a place to get started, check out La Problema del Borde de la Piscina (The Border Problem).

(2) Open Up Resources has created an entire problem-based curriculum from 6th-8th grade that has been fully translated into Spanish. El Currículo Basado en la Resolución de Problemas

(3) For teacher using materials from the CUNY HSE Math Curriculum Framework, Haewon Latorre created some Spanish versions of some of the visual pattern handouts.

(4) You can also use Google Translate through the Chrome browser to translate materials:

(5) These SPANISH RESOURCES FOR MATH INSTRUCTION were developed by the SABES Mathematics and Adult Numeracy Curriculum & Instruction PD Center
