In this activity from Teaching About Evolution and the Nature of Science, students develop a model of the mathematical nature of population growth. The investigation provides an excellent opportunity to understand that plant and animal populations have the potential to grow exponentially, but as a result of variation, competition for resources, and natural selection, only some survive.
