The Economic Lowdown series produces podcasts and videos that introduce learners to key economics concepts in plain language.  Their video on GDP is one of the best for helping students understand this concept.  Students only need to watch the first 4-5 minutes of the video.  Later sections are complicated and not necessary to understand the basic concept.
