Screencast: Introduction to the NYSED/CUNY CareerKit Resources

In this 15-minute screencast, users are introduced to the NYSED/CUNY CareerKits, their purpose and classroom use, including how to use the Skills Chart to locate activities in line with the academic skills of the teacher’s choice.

This screencast is ideal for use in turnkey trainings, as teachers and other staff orient their colleagues to use the CareerKits with students. It may be paired with a second 15-minute screencast, introducing users to the content-based approach of the CareerKits, integrating career content and reading, writing, math and critical thinking practice.

What is a screencast?

Screencasts take viewers through a series of webpages. In this case, viewers are taken to the CareerKit webpage, then shown how to access Career Fundamentals, all sector-based CareerKits, the introduction, explaining the purpose and uses of all Kits, the table of contents, including the focus of each unit, and the skills chart, used to locate activities according to both career content and academic focus.
