Construction CareerKit Spotlight: Housing Rights and Resources

Every CareerKit has one unit devoted to being a consumer or user of the sector. In Healthcare, it’s for patients. In Education, it’s for students. In Construction, the consumer unit is House and Home, and is for everyone for rents a home, lives in a home, or needs a home. Through reading, writing and math activities, it addresses topics as housing costs, where to find affordable housing, what to do if you think you’ve been discriminated against, a landlord’s responsibilities and how to advocate for housing needs, and even home maintenance literacy — common tools that can be inexpensively purchased to maintain a safe and clean home, in the absence of care from a landlord.
