Did you know?
Bilingual workers are in demand in many sectors. This means that bilingual job applicants are in an especially strong position to compete for jobs, and may mean the difference between landing the job or not. Bilingual workers also earn more than their monolingual counterparts in similar jobs. However, many students do not consider their bilingualism an asset.
Activities on the advantages of being bilingual appear in every CareerKit. This lesson created by Melissa Valerie, teacher at BMCC Adult Learning Center, provides practice and guidance with understanding graphs and summarizing, as well as multiple choice reading comprehension questions similar to those on the HSE exam and TABE 11/12, on the topic of bilingualism in the workplace.
